The Bar is Open! (new pics too)

After a lot of hammering, sawing and carrying things way bigger and heavier than we should have- the bar is finally mostly in place!  We managed to score used stainless steel commercial grade kegerator from a country club that promises to keep the beer chilly all summer long!  Add that to our 60lb ice maker and 4.3 cu foot mixer-fridge and you have a recipe for a summer full of cold drinks!

There are still a few more pieces to put in place, of course.  Last week we bought all the matching glassware – wine glasses, martini glasses, champagne flutes, beer mugs, brandy snifters, etc.  We will be installing a shelf along the top that we picked up yesterday to hold liquor and hopefully some glassware underneath.  Also, the area to the left of the mini fridge (the black appliance in the photo) will be converted into a wine storage rack so that bottles are nearby when you’re running low!

We can’t wait for summer to start!  If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t miss your chance!  Email us today at benandcat@kismetsevenseas.com!

Setting Up to Knock ‘Em Back

Chilled martini glasses. What else would Fire Island's #1 Sharehouse in Kismet drink cocktails out of?With the start of the season just around the corner, your tireless summer sharehouse managers have been working around the clock to get the ship fit to sail on May 22nd!  It sure is a good thing Cat is a Pilates and yoga instructor as well as an avid gym enthusiast beacuse we needed all the big muscles we could  get this last weekend.  We went out to the house and Cat got right to work painting the linen closet and getting all our storage needs in order.

We also brought out our next big items including a 4.3 cu ft mini-fridge for mixers, soda and wine to go under the bar and finally, the counter top surfaces to make the bar itself.  After about 3-4 hours with the skill saw, Ben had the bar roughly in place and we will put the final adhesives and finishes on it next Saturday.  That brings the bar to about 65%.  The kegerator will come out next weekend rounding out the drinking “heavy machinery”.

We were so exicted to look at out beautiful new drink station that on the way home, we stopped and picked up martini glasses, wine glasses, enough champagne flutes for house-wide toasts, brandy snifters and a whole pile of other stuff too.

PS: Krista – we have aquired the melon baller you requested – party on!
