Seven Seas is seeking a person for a live/work position on Fire Island at our beach house.
Duration: Mondays-Fridays from May 25th – September 23rd.
Time Required: Approx 20 hours per week
Duties: General housework and cleaning, ordering and inventory, management tasks.
Compensation: $1,000 / month, plus room and board
Description:
The job consists of looking after two beach houses in the lovely town of Kismet on Fire Island between the weekends when the shares fill the place. A general week would look like this: show up on Sunday night or Monday morning. Do the laundry and cleaning on Monday morning. On Tuesday take stock of what is in the refrigerators and pantries and compare the shopping list, place online orders for grocery deliveries. Hang out at the house during the week and keep the place generally tidy. On Thursday morning, pick up the grocery and booze order from the dock and stock the refrigerators and pantries. Leave any time on Friday and return the following week to repeat.
This is a great gig for someone recently laid off looking for some time on the beach to figure on the next step, or someone with a significant other on the mainland where you can stay on weekends and save money by subletting your apartment for the summer.
Applicants must be responsible, reliable, detail oriented, pleasant and fit enough to perform basic physical work and cleaning tasks such as carrying groceries, light gardening, basic household repair, mopping, sweeping, cleaning, etc.
During the weeks, we will have our share members and others that come in and out each week, so it is important that the applicant fit the general tenor of the group that we cater to, mid 20s to mid 30s in age, pleasant, interesting, social, etc. Please visit http://kismetsevenseas.com first and read thoroughly BEFORE applying to understand the type of business we operate and environment we foster. Applicants who clearly have not taken the time to read this in advance will be rejected out of hand.

With the start of the season just around the corner, your tireless summer sharehouse managers have been working around the clock to get the ship fit to sail on May 22nd! It sure is a good thing Cat is a Pilates and yoga instructor as well as an avid gym enthusiast beacuse we needed all the big muscles we could get this last weekend. We went out to the house and Cat got right to work painting the linen closet and getting all our storage needs in order.
When
Man, the weather this week has been terrible! But don’t let that fool you – summer’s coming and things are really heating up at Seven Seas. The last few weeks we have been continuing our tireless mission to make this house the best it can possibly be for our shares. This has included a lot of planting on Ben’s part and we have lots of things sprouting up including: mint bushes, rows of basil, yellow bell peppers, larkspur, black-eyed susans, scarlet runner vines (hoping to have these guys cover a trellis around the outdoor shower since they are pretty and smell good), chili peppers, and even a nice bush of knockout roses for the upper deck!
