Summer Midweek Beach House Manager Position

summer jobSeven Seas is seeking a person for a live/work position on Fire Island at our beach house.

Duration: Mondays-Fridays from May 25th – September 23rd.
Time Required: Approx 20 hours per week
Duties: General housework and cleaning, ordering and inventory, management tasks.
Compensation: $1,000 / month, plus room and board

Description:

The job consists of looking after two beach houses in the lovely town of Kismet on Fire Island between the weekends when the shares fill the place. A general week would look like this: show up on Sunday night or Monday morning. Do the laundry and cleaning on Monday morning. On Tuesday take stock of what is in the refrigerators and pantries and compare the shopping list, place online orders for grocery deliveries. Hang out at the house during the week and keep the place generally tidy. On Thursday morning, pick up the grocery and booze order from the dock and stock the refrigerators and pantries. Leave any time on Friday and return the following week to repeat.

This is a great gig for someone recently laid off looking for some time on the beach to figure on the next step, or someone with a significant other on the mainland where you can stay on weekends and save money by subletting your apartment for the summer.

Applicants must be responsible, reliable, detail oriented, pleasant and fit enough to perform basic physical work and cleaning tasks such as carrying groceries, light gardening, basic household repair, mopping, sweeping, cleaning, etc.

During the weeks, we will have our share members and others that come in and out each week, so it is important that the applicant fit the general tenor of the group that we cater to, mid 20s to mid 30s in age, pleasant, interesting, social, etc. Please visit http://kismetsevenseas.com first and read thoroughly BEFORE applying to understand the type of business we operate and environment we foster. Applicants who clearly have not taken the time to read this in advance will be rejected out of hand.

The Bar is Open! (new pics too)

After a lot of hammering, sawing and carrying things way bigger and heavier than we should have- the bar is finally mostly in place!  We managed to score used stainless steel commercial grade kegerator from a country club that promises to keep the beer chilly all summer long!  Add that to our 60lb ice maker and 4.3 cu foot mixer-fridge and you have a recipe for a summer full of cold drinks!

There are still a few more pieces to put in place, of course.  Last week we bought all the matching glassware – wine glasses, martini glasses, champagne flutes, beer mugs, brandy snifters, etc.  We will be installing a shelf along the top that we picked up yesterday to hold liquor and hopefully some glassware underneath.  Also, the area to the left of the mini fridge (the black appliance in the photo) will be converted into a wine storage rack so that bottles are nearby when you’re running low!

We can’t wait for summer to start!  If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t miss your chance!  Email us today at benandcat@kismetsevenseas.com!

Setting Up to Knock ‘Em Back

Chilled martini glasses. What else would Fire Island's #1 Sharehouse in Kismet drink cocktails out of?With the start of the season just around the corner, your tireless summer sharehouse managers have been working around the clock to get the ship fit to sail on May 22nd!  It sure is a good thing Cat is a Pilates and yoga instructor as well as an avid gym enthusiast beacuse we needed all the big muscles we could  get this last weekend.  We went out to the house and Cat got right to work painting the linen closet and getting all our storage needs in order.

We also brought out our next big items including a 4.3 cu ft mini-fridge for mixers, soda and wine to go under the bar and finally, the counter top surfaces to make the bar itself.  After about 3-4 hours with the skill saw, Ben had the bar roughly in place and we will put the final adhesives and finishes on it next Saturday.  That brings the bar to about 65%.  The kegerator will come out next weekend rounding out the drinking “heavy machinery”.

We were so exicted to look at out beautiful new drink station that on the way home, we stopped and picked up martini glasses, wine glasses, enough champagne flutes for house-wide toasts, brandy snifters and a whole pile of other stuff too.

PS: Krista – we have aquired the melon baller you requested – party on!

Everything Coming Up Roses at Seven Seas

RosesMan, the weather this week has been terrible! But don’t let that fool you – summer’s coming and things are really heating up at Seven Seas. The last few weeks we have been continuing our tireless mission to make this house the best it can possibly be for our shares. This has included a lot of planting on Ben’s part and we have lots of things sprouting up including: mint bushes, rows of basil, yellow bell peppers, larkspur, black-eyed susans, scarlet runner vines (hoping to have these guys cover a trellis around the outdoor shower since they are pretty and smell good), chili peppers, and even a nice bush of knockout roses for the upper deck!

If there are any prospects out there who have a green thumb and an eye for container gardening, Seven Seas is the house for you. Add that to our already long list of great amenities and activities and you’ve got a serious deal! Come to our next meet up this Sunday to chat with us and sign up for your series before it’s gone!

Ice, Ice, Baby!

No shortage of this stuff this summer!!

No shortage of this stuff this summer!!

After a rather precarious journey from New Jersey, Kismet Seven Seas just got its ice maker back home, and boy what a score. This baby pumps out 60 lbs of ice a day! If you’re a all geeky (like me) and want to click here to check out the specs.

At Kismet Seven Seas, we take care in the details. Not a lot of houses even bother with an ice maker, but always being able to have cold sangria, heavily iced sun tea with fresh home grown mint leaves, and of course never a lack for frozen drinks like margaritas as well as plentiful cup fulls to be added to a cocktail shaker to whip up a pre-dinner martini makes all the difference on those hot summer weekends!

Check out the rest of the great amenities we offer on our amenities page. The summer keeps looking better and better and space is almost gone! Can’t wait to see you on the beach!

New bedroom pictures added!

We are thrilled to show off the newly renovated and truly pleasant bedrooms. Each of our shares gets their own bed. The drawers underneath can be used to store your belongings.

And another bedroom on the other side of the house. As you can see, we’re a long way from couch crashing and futons.

Check out the new pics of our beautiful, breezy, and bright sleeping quarters:
