You never forget how to ride a bicycle, like the saying goes. You may, however, have forgotten how much fun it is. In Fire Island there are no cars, and as a result, wagons and bikes dominate the shady walks and paths to and from the towns, beaches and houses. The sound of gently chiming bells is common as bikers ring them to warn of their approach toward each other or at intersections on the paths. Riding a bike is not only a speedy way to move about the island, it is also a wonderful morning or afternoon activity that is pleasurable and peaceful, and maybe even an opportunity to spend quality private time with a friend.
Seven Seas has a small bike rack and a couple of easy-pedalers that you can take out whenever you want and ride around. Of course, don’t drink and ride.
