Getting to Seven Seas is easy! Getting out to the house the first time can be a little confusing, but once you make trip once, you’ll be a pro. Just follow these steps:
1) Take the LIRR to Bay Shore
Check the LIRR schedule and find a train to Bay Shore. You can check out the schedule here. Be sure to leave yourself some time between the train and ferry you’ll take. Budget 30 minutes the 1st time, as little as 15 once you know the ropes.
Quick tip, make sure you check which trains run express. Express trains are the best ones to takes as the Bay shore is usually the 1st or second stop and this cuts a lot of time off the trip.
2) Head to the the ferry dock
You can either take a van (van’s meet the trains and say “Tommy’s” on them). You can get in on of the vans calling “Saltaire, Kismet Fair Harbor!” to go to the right dock. The trip costs $4.50. Alternatively you can walk to the dock in about 10-15 minutes.
When you get off the train, walk away from the train tracks, passing the 7-11 on your left. Keep going on Fourth Ave and take it all the way down to the ferry dock. (Once you cross Main St., Fourth Ave is called Maple Ave.) Make sure you know which dock your boat leaves from (Main, Kismet/Saltaire, or Maple Ave.) and then turn left in the proper terminal. For Maple Ave, just keep going straight.
3) Take the ferry to Kismet
Now that you have arrived at the dock for the ferry you want to catch from the Fire Island ferry schedule. You buy your tickets right there on the boat at no added cost. You can also get a discount by buying the tickets in bulk ahead of time. Check out the Fire Island Ferry, Co.’s web site for more info.
Get off at the Kismet stop. If you’re not sure which one it is ask, walking from Saltaire sucks. Better yet, ask a housemate to meet you at the dock with a drink!
4) Walk to Seven Seas and Make Yourself at Home
Walk down the pier with and pass the Pizza Parlor on your right side. Keep going straight. You will see pass The Surf’s Out on your left. Head down the path about 200 yards. Seven Seas will be a large pink house on your left. It has a sign and a screened in porch. Come on in! You’re home!

Driving Directions from Manhattan
Take the Midtown Tunnel and continue on 495 East. Take the Cross Island Parkway South to the Southern Parkway East. Take Exit 42S and at the end of the ramp, turn left and then make a quick right onto Fifth Ave. After a couple of miles, you will pass a lighthouse and flagpole and the road will become one-way. After a couple of lights, turn left onto Main Street. Then make a right onto Fourth Ave. This will turn into Maple Ave. Continue on Maple and you will see the signs for the ferries on your left.
Be sure to check that you are at the correct terminal for Kismet before parking your car. You can park for free at the train station on the north side of the tracks in the 48-hour parking section. They don’t count how many days you’re there.
